The team behind the team.
I took a photo at a Rams game last Monday, (they beat the Giants 28-6), and found myself looking past the players dressed in yellow.
Everyone in the stadium came to watch the Super Bowl hopefuls. But look at how many people are standing just off the field in blue- trainers, coaches, equipment staff, analysts, and a whole lot of people whose names most of us will never know. I counted roughly two blue shirts for every yellow one on that sideline. Nobody buys a ticket to watch the blue shirts. Most people wouldn’t notice if they weren’t there.
It reminded me a lot of what we do.
Our clients- lawyers, owners, dealmakers, advisors- are the ones on the field; walking into court, sitting across the table, negotiating the deal, or making the hard call. They’re the ones on the field.
We’re somewhere behind them: documenting the chain of custody, preserving the phone before the evidence disappears, locating the asset, making sure the status update goes out before the client has to ask.
Most clients see one or two people from our team, the lead investigator or the examiner on the call. What they don’t always see is the full group behind that visible work.
Our job is to help clients understand who they are really dealing with, what the facts actually support, and what they may not see coming. That means walking into important moments better prepared, more confident, and harder to surprise.
Sometimes that helps them win. Sometimes it helps them avoid a mistake, a blind spot, or a bad assumption.
Either way, it helps them look prepared because they are prepared.
That’s the part I’m proudest of.
We don’t need to be the team on the field. We just want our clients to know that when they need answers, there is a very good team standing behind them.
The team behind the team.
